AUSTIN SCHUETZ — DENVER, CO
I started with WordPress. I didn't stop there.
Ten years ago I was a freelance front-end developer building sites for Denver businesses. Since then I've done agency work, studio work, and in-house engineering — and spent my nights building products from scratch. The through-line: I ship.
I'm a developer based in Denver, Colorado. I started freelance in 2015, hand-building WordPress sites for local businesses — gyms, glaziers, illustrators, whoever needed a site that worked.
That led to a run of roles that each stretched the craft a little further: front-end and platform work at Sphera, custom theme development through Studio Science for Integrate, then a marketing agency, and now engineering at Sequoia. Somewhere in there the work stopped being just websites and became products — full-stack, cross-platform, and increasingly built with AI in the loop.
The products on this site are mostly nights-and-weekends work: a live trading system, a gym platform, a couple of consumer apps, and the CMS you're reading this on. That's where I test what's possible before I bring it to client work. On the weekends that aren't that, I'm on a trail somewhere in the Front Range.
The path here
-
2015
Freelance front-end developer — Denver, CO
Hand-built WordPress and front-end sites for local businesses. Gyms, small brands, personal sites. This is where the archive starts.
-
~2017
Front-end & platform — Sphera
Moved from lone freelancer to team work on larger web platforms and marketing sites.
-
~2019
Theme development — Integrate — via Studio Science
Authored a custom WordPress theme and a stack of page templates with gulp/Sass and ACF. Real production front-end at scale.
-
2020–2022
Web developer — Digital Dudes Marketing
Agency work — web design and development, SEO, and lead-gen builds for a roster of clients.
-
Now
Software engineer — Sequoia
In-house engineering by day. By night, building products end-to-end and going deep on AI — multi-agent systems and Claude API integrations.
Now
I'm at Sequoia during the week, and I keep a light freelance and partnership load outside of it.
I'm available for freelance front-end and WordPress builds, full-stack product engineering, and — the part I'm most interested in right now — AI integration partnerships for startups. If you're a founder who needs someone to actually build the AI, not just talk about it, that's the work I want. I've shipped production systems on the Claude API and I know where the sharp edges are.
Let's work together.
Freelance build, product engineering, or an AI partnership — I'd like to hear about it.
